18-year-old Nigerian to star for Tottenham

Highly-rated young defender of Nigerian descent, Timothy Eyoma, will start for Tottenham Hotspur in their International Champions Cup match against AC Milan this morning.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has surprisingly picked the central defender in the starting lineup plus another player of Nigerian descent in the shape of Luke Amos.

The 18-year-old Eyoma was a non-playing substitute in previous International Champions Cup matches against Roma and Barcelona, while Amos started both games.

He was part of the Young Lions squad that won the 2017 FIFA Under 17 World Cup, starting their first two matches before coming off the bench against Brazil in the semifinals.

As well as Tottenham Hotspur’s U23 team in the Premier League 2, Eyoma appeared for the U18s in the U18 Premier League and FA Youth Cup last season, and also figured in the UEFA Youth League.

Tottenham Starting XI Vs Milan: Vorm, Walker-Peters, Sanchez, Eyoma, Georgiou, Skipp, Marsh, Amos, Lucas, NKoudou, Llorente
