Port Harcourt: Drama as FIDA arrests witness in court

A magistrate court in Port Harcourt has granted bail to the tune of five million Naira to a U.S based woman and her friend standing trial on a three-count charge of child trafficking, conspiracy and unlawful taking away of children.

PRECIOUS OBAZI and her friend ESTHER IGWE were alleged to have committed the crime around Igwuruta community in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers and was reported to the police by the management of a hotel where the suspects were alleged to have used as a hideout.

Chief Magistrate F.N Amanze ordered that the two accused remain in prison custody until the bail conditions are met.

Our correspondent reports that a mild drama played out when FIDA arrested a relation of one of the accused who was in court to witness the proceedings.

Lead counsel to the accused, Azimba O. Azimba described FIDA’ s action as an outburst of sentiments.

Fida declined to comment on the matter.
