July becomes the deadliest month for Policemen in Rivers State

July seems to be the deadliest month for policemen in Rivers State as gunmen have attacked a police station in the Diobu area of Port Harcourt killing at least four policemen.

A yet to be identified gunmen on Wednesday murdered 3 policemen at the Rumuigbo area and escaped with their rifles.

The recent event in Diobu, sources say, has thrown the area into crises with residents unsure of their safety.

Residents who spoke to theportcitynews say cultists have unleashed high-levelled attacks on security agents in the area, especially policemen.

Residents say that despite efforts by the police to curtail the gale of violent crime in the area, rates of robbery and killings in the area have not abated.

The Diobu incident makes it the third time gunmen are killing policemen in the state within the month, bringing the numbers killed so far to nine.

Theportcitynews attempt to speak with the Rivers State Police Public relations officer on the recent development was unproductive.
