Court evicts 8000 persons in Diobu

About 8,000 persons have been evicted from their homes at Obidiansho waterfront in mile 2 Diobu area of Port Harcourt following a court order.

Residents reportedly alleged that they were forcefully evicted from their homes by security agents.

Some of the residents who spoke to Theportcitynews.com on phone claimed that their properties were destroyed during the eviction while some of their children were missing.

They said if nothing is urgently done to alleviate their plight, their could be fatalities as they are left homeless.

A government source, who spoke on the development said, though there are no official complaints about the court order which has rendered these citizens homeless, the state government is worried that such action could lead to urban crisis.

It was gathered that a court issued an order in favor of Ogosu family to evict these persons after a lenghty legal battle over the ownership of the said waterfront.
