LG Chairman Sacks 14 CDC Chairmen For Aiding Cultism

The Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, Samuel Nwanosike, has dissolved Community Development Committee, CDC, Chairmen of 14 communities in the area for allegedly aiding cult activities.

The chairman who announced their dissolution at Isiokpo, the headquarters of Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state, also advised members of all cult groups and kidnappers operating in different communities in the area to turn a new leaf and surrender their arms and ammunition to security agencies.

Nwanosike also accused the Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, who hails from the area, of failing to attract any federal project to the state in the past three years.

He said: “How can you come to a community where you claim to be a CDC chairman and people are going about with AK-47 rifles? We found out that majority of the CDC chairmen belong to Deygbam and Deywell. How can a community move forward with such people?”
