Shehu Sani gives condition for truce with the Executive.

The Senator representing Kaduna Central in the National Assembly, Shehu Sani, has given conditions that will guarantee peace between the executive and the legislature and restore strained relationships between the two arms of government.

The Senator was reacting to rumours on his social media handle that some members of the National Assembly were set to join the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, owing to perceived intimidation, framing and arrests by the Executive using the police, DSS and the EFCC.

Theportcitynews.com reported that the years-old political impasse that has strained relationships between the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Executive and the Senator Bukola Saraki-led 8th Senate which saw the Executive disregard directives of the Senate, especially as regards the appointments of several principal officers by the Executive, has metamorphosed into balkanization of the ruling party, APC.

The impasse has also led to the arrest of Senators and the framing of others for armed robbery. Among the Senators arrested is Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe from Abia State and Senator Dino Melaye from Kogi State.

However, Senator Shehu Sani who was also framed by the police for arming thugs in Kaduna State stated that for the political squabble between the Senate and the executive to end, “The Presidency must end the systematic demonization of the leadership and members of the parliament; end the use of state apparatus to hunt, frame, intimidate and persecute legislators; end political trials, compel President’s appointees to honour and respect summons and accord the Senate President and the Speaker House of Representatives their due respect.

Continuing, he wrote: “The Parliament should confirm pending President’s nominees, liquidate the thought and proposals for impeachment, speed up the passage of executive bills and accord the President the respect he deserves as the Leader of the Senate.

Lastly, he added that” The Presidency should end the sponsorship of synthetic protests and the Parliament should ceasefire on the launching of verbal cruise missiles to the villa”

Meanwhile, the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has stated that attempts to witch-hunt him has deprived Nigeria of the needed political reforms and policies that will bring dividends of democracy to the people.

The Senate President stated this on Saturday during the commissioning of the reconstructed Obiri-Ikwerre Airport Road in Obio-Akpor Local government.

Senator Saraki charged Nigerians to continue to fight for development, adding that the commissioned road is significant in the sense that it is from there that investors will come into the state.

“If you stand here and look across, you will be proud to be a Nigerian. Looking up there, I can see Nigeria is working and it can work better”.

He said from the projects commissioned in Rivers State within the period, it is obvious that Governor Wike is focused with the Rivers people fully in support of him.

He urged Nigerians not to lose focus and hope, saying that the country will eventually work.

“We are determined that there will be peace in this country. Those that don’t do the right thing will be sanctioned for not doing the right thing.

“We are determined that from every part of the country, this country belongs to us”, he said.

He regretted that three years were wasted trying to fight him. He noted that the three wasted years would have been used for the development of Nigeria.
