Security operatives on Wednesday at Ikwerre local government area of Rivers State paraded the dead body of a notorious cultist, popularly known as civilian-general, who was shot dead during a fierce exchange of gunfire between security operatives and a notorious cult group at Omadieme community, in Ikwerre LGA.

Before his death, Civilian-General was allegedly responsible for the rising spate of kidnappings and killings in the area.

Speaking to Theportcitynews.com shortly after the slain crime lord was paraded to the public, the chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area, Hon. Samuel Nwanosike stated that he pledged during his inauguration to fight insecurity in Ikwerre LGA to a standstill, adding that he will do everything to endure that the area regains its glory and become a safe place for all.

Nwanosike who thanked security operatives for the role they are playing in fishing out criminals in the area said that they will take the fight to the criminal hideouts in the local government to ensure that they are flushed out totally.

He reiterated his administration’s resolve not to rest until total peace and security of lives and properties are restored back in the LGA as that will make the environment conducive enough for investors to come in and do business.

Nwanosike, however, warned perpetrators of crime to turn a new leaf or they will be fished out to face the law decisively. He added that the security men will comb the forests and bushes in the area in order to arrest criminals that have made the area uncomfortable for residents.
