We stand by the May 2015 LGA polls – Rivers APC

The All Progressive Congress, Rivers State Chapter, has stated that it will not be participating in the forthcoming local government election scheduled to hold on Saturday 16th of June, 2018.

The party equally described the election as illegal.

In a statement issued on behalf of the state chairman of the party, Ojukaye Flag-Amachree, the party said that it stands by the election conducted on May 2015 by the RSIEC which the party candidates won overwhelmingly.

The APC noted that since the matter is still pending at both the supreme court and court of appeal on the “illegal removal” of the duly elected chairmen, it will not be participating in any other local government election until the matter is decided by the courts.

Ojukaye added that in view of the pending cases in court, the party is not participating in the forthcoming “illegal local government election” as the aftermath will be prejudicial, null and void.

He, therefore, urged all the members of the party to go out for their normal businesses and disregard the information from RSIEC on the local government election and be hopeful that justice will prevail.
