Oghenekaro Etebo Expects A Great Match At Wembley

Nigeria midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo has lamented the state of the pitch in their friendly game against DR Congo on Monday.

The Super Eagles international blamed the team’s poor showing at the Adokiye Amesiamaka Stadium Port Harcourt on the poor condition of the pitch.

Nigeria played to a 1-1 draw against the Leopards in their 2018 FIFA World Cup build-up game, but he expects a great game against England at Wembley on Saturday.

Gernot Rohr’s men netted through defender William Troost-Ekong as he scored his first international goal in his 19th appearance for the three-time African champions.

Speaking to Complete Sports Nigeria in a brief interview, Etebo said he gave his best in a tough condition on match day.

“It was a good game, but I must admit the poor turf made it difficult for us to play well, but I feel we did well to get a result to please our fans on the day,” Etebo stated.

“I think that we will be better organised than we were when we face England. That’s the game we are all looking forward to.”

Meanwhile, the player had an impressive second half of the season with Las Palmas in the Spanish La Liga.
