Gani Topba blames Minister of Environment for delay in Ogoni Cleanup, Calls for his sack.

The National Coordinator of the Ken Saro-Wiwa Associates, Gani Topba, has said the minister of state for environment is responsible for the delay in the Ogoni UNEP report cleanup.

Gani Topba who stated this at an event marking the 25th year of non oil exploration in Ogoni land, said sacking the minister by president Buhari, will pave way for the cleanup exercise.

“Nobody can blame President Buhari for the UNEP report, that is the position of the Ken Saro-Wiwa Associates.

“There is a minister of state for Environment that $10m was released to. The minister has not spent that money to provide water for the people. So this Government has made a move.

“And I can assure you that if President Buhari sacks the minister of state for Environment today, UNEP report will be implemented.

“Because every stakeholder is Looking at the driver of the seat, being the Chairman of the governing council who has kept our money in the bank.

“You can see that even the assembly agreed, that no money should be released on UNEP report until they use the money that they have to provide water for the people” he said!
