Asari Toru CTC Boss wants establishment of fire service after deadly fire incident in Buguma

The caretaker committee chairman of Asari Toru local Government, Tubotamuno Dick has called on the attention of the state government and sister kalabari LGA’s on the need for the establishment of a central fire station, after a fire incident that razed down Amatoru house by 3am this morning.

The fire incident which victims say was caused as a result of an electrical malfunction, completely destroyed the building housing four families.

While responding to the incident at the scene of the fire mishap, Tubotamuno Dick said he was happy no life was lost and also said it was important to establish a central fire service station.

“This is one incident that will make me call for the establishment of a central fire service station, at least one.

“Both Abonemma, Buguma and Degema are all motorable now.

“You equally know that, that is not something that is done overnight. It needs equipment, training and manpower. So I will definitely draw the attention of the state to this incident.

“But in the main time, we will still resort to the old means of ringing the bells for able bodied young men to come out, and even today the young men did marvellously well.

“And as a council I need to commend them, because when I came, they were all busy and some even had injuries before they were able to put off the fire.
