The All progressive Congress, APC, in Rivers state has said violence has resumed across the state since the commencement of the process for the Local Government council elections for Chairmen and councillors.
The APC in a statement by it’s state publicity secretary, Chris Finebone, said the purported violence trailing the ongoing PDP council primaries in the state, carry collateral consequences on law abiding people and residents of Rivers State, including members of the APC.
The party therefore called on Governor Nyesom Wike to restrain PDP members, and allow law abiding citizens to have their peace across the state.
“Governor Nyesom Wike must go beyond disqualifying his gun toting boys from contesting PDP primaries.
“He must reign them in and allow law abiding citizens to have their Peace across the State.
“More importantly, the APC calls on the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State police command, and all other heads of security agencies in the state, to do the needful to ensure that the PDP and PDP violence currently pervading the state, is contained from spilling out into full scale war.
“Further pains should not be brought on innocent people by a bunch of blood thirsty hooligans, whose only pathway to electoral office is violence” Chris Finebone said.
