Governor Wike disqualifies all PDP Degema Chairmanship Aspirants

Governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike, has asked all the chairmanship aspirants of the PDP in Degema local Government Area to withdraw from the June 16 local Government elections.

Governor Wike made the declaration while swearing in CTC Chairmen of 6 Local Government Areas at the Government House Port Harcourt.

The Governor said the decision followed the shooting incident that characterised the debate organized for PDP chairmanship aspirants in Degema.

“Just look at Degema. We’ve not even done their councillorship primaries. Look at them shooting guns. So I have disqualified all the chairmanship aspirants, all. They should go, let new ones now go and pick the form.

“I don’t understand how people who have not gone for councillorship primaries not to talk about chairmanship primaries, they now find out that they hear community say they should come and debate, that would lead to people shooting guns, for just chairmanship of a local Government.

“So when you get there by violence, you won’t listen to anybody” the governor said.
