Technical Adviser of Rivers United, Coach Stanley Eguma has described today’s victory over Nasarawa United as a very significant one.
An Elum Sochima first minute strike was enough to give the ‘pride of Rivers’ the three points in a match day 17 NPFL encounter at the Yakubu Gowon stadium, Port Harcourt and momentarily take them to second on the log.
Eguma made this known in his post match presser, saying the victory was significant and that the hard work to ensure his team competes for the league or a continental ticket begins from today.
“This victory today I think is very significant, because if the players look at the log and find out that they’re in second position, it’s going to be a morale booster.
“They will have that confidence now and that self belief that they can contest the league like other’s. That’s one good thing about this result.
“And I want to say that the hard work starts now. I always tell them that with a little bit of carefulness and hard work, when once you show commitment to the job, you can always be there and they’ve started seeing it now, because they’ve pushed themselves a little, getting some good results.
“Now we can now come and begin to compete and contest for the title or continental ticket.
“It’s very possible, anything can happen. I believe that we’re in a vantage position to do that.
“So I think we will surely work until the league is over”
