Ogoni’s are united in their quest for Environmental Justice -Ledum Mitee

The former President of the Movement of the Survival of Ogoni People, MOSOP, Ledum Mitee has said that the Ogoni’s are united in their quest for environmental justice.

He stated this when the executives of Past Ogoni Student leaders, paid him a visit at his residence in Port Harcourt.

Ledum Mitee said that the disagreement between the leadership of MOSOP and the Ken Saro Wiwa Associates, is just a difference in strategies of approaching the issues of oil exploration in Ogoni land.

He however maintained that any company that wants to explore oil in Ogoni land, must consult the Ogoni people first.

“I’m not sure that there is leadership crisis, as such. What I think is that, there have been different voices.

“But I think the Ogoni people are united in their pursuit for a particular goal, and that is the goal of trying to get justice for our people.

“We believe that the exploitation of oil must be by companies that can show sufficient pedigree.

“And also there needs to be some painstaking consultation at every level of the Ogoni society.

“So I’m sure that the issues are more of, maybe difference in strategies, but the Ogoni’s are united in their quest for justice.
