Burglar joined house owner to scream for help before being apprehended by vigilante.

A 45-year-old widow has narrated how a burglar joined her in screaming for help minutes after he tried to burgle her house at the Mercyland area of Portharcourt.

Mrs. Ifeoma Igbobe said that 28-year-old Jackson Nna, had tried to break into her flat by bending the metal burglary proof.

“I was inside the house preparing dinner for my family when I heard the noise outside. So I peeped through the window and saw a man bending the lock with a big iron”

” I raised alarm because at that appoint, I was only thinking about the safety of my 4 children. He might harm them if he gains entrance into the house”

Mrs. Ifeoma said that she was shocked when the invader joined her in screaming for help.

” I was surprised when the burglar joined me in screaming for help. He was shouting ‘thief, thief’. I thought it happens only in the movies but I experienced it life”

” He only tried to run when the vigilante came and chased him and caught him”

The 28-year-old who had since been handed over to the police was said to be a habitual offender and had returned from prison about 5 months ago.

Efforts to speak to the Rumuokoro Police command where the culprit was being held were abortive as Police declined comments on the matter.
