Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, Dr. Dakuku Peterside, has accused the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, of running a secret and fraudulent administration since taking over power in May 2015.
Reacting to statements credited to Governor Wike that he (Peterside) wrote to the Federal Ministry of Finance, demanding to know how much Rivers state has received since 2015, the NIMASA boss said he has every right to know what his state earns from the federal government.
Dr.Peterside, who was the 2015 APC Governorship candidate, said the present administration in Rivers state is being run as a private entity, belonging to Governor Wike and a small circle of friends who are now state contractors.
He challenged Governor Nyesom Wike to tell Rivers people the number of projects he has executed since he assumed office and the value of those projects.
He regretted that the Governor has failed to pay salaries of local Government workers, contract lecturers, pension arrears, and the 2-year salaries of staff of the Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency, RSSDA.
He further alleged that the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike now goes about awarding projects arbitrarily, without approval from the Rivers State public procurement act.
