Political parties in Abuja will not decide who governs Rivers state – Ankkio Briggs

A Niger Deltan activist and public affairs analyst, Ankkio Briggs, has said that only the people of Rivers State reserves the right to elect those that will govern the state.

In a series of tweets on her official twitter handle, she wrote that outside parties would not decide who governs the state.

This is coming at a time political activities in the state have intensified and the political atmosphere rife with accusations and counter accusations between the PDP and the APC.

There has been purported rumours of external influence in the State’s political affairs with Governor Nyesom Wike, saying during a rally on Monday that the ruling All Progressive Congress are planning to intimidate officials of the Peoples Democratic Party with security agents.

Mrs. Briggs said that only the votes of those resident in the state will determine the political future of the state.

She wrote: “Political parties in Abuja won’t decide which Rivers son/daughter will govern Us. Our votes in 2019 will be determined only by the interests of Rivers State People not by political parties”
