Vitol ships fuel to Nigeria in Suezmax

Vitol has booked a Suezmax vessel to carry a 115,000-tonne fuel cargo to Nigeria, international media reported Wednesday.

The Sea Icon is set to arrive in Nigerian waters February 22 before offloading its cargo onto smaller vessels that will have easier access to the country’s ports, Reuters reported.

The international petroleum products trader used another Suezmax vessel, the Start Energy, to bring petrol to the West African country in September.

In January, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation said in a statement that fuel queues in the country had been cleared. The month before, the NOC more than doubled the supply of petrol, locally known as premium motor spirit.
