A 2nd minute Oton Otop strike and his first goal of the season, was enough for Go Round FC as they edged past Abia Warriors by a lone goal at the Krisdera Stadium, Omoku in a match day 8 NPFL game.
Otop sneaked in behind the defenders immediately after the sound of the kick off whistle, to dink the ball home as onrushing goalkeeper, Joshua Enaholo could do nothing about it.
Abia Warriors had one good chance in the 44th minute through Emeka Isaac’s shot from distance, which went narrowly wide after finding space to strike.
Captain of Go Round FC, Nelson Esor after the game, gave his reaction on how they held on to the 1-0 win.
“We got our early goal and tried to sustain the pressure. Abia Warriors are a very good and a tactical team and mounted pressure but we were able to contain them.
“We did all we could to contain the pressure and ensure the game ended
1-0,” Esor said.
With the victory, Go Round Fc sit 12th on the log with 10 points and will travel to Maiduguri to take on El Kanemi Warriors in a match day 9 fixture.
