Heartland head coach Ramson Madu was happy to see his side secure a 2-1 win victory over Niger Tornadoes on Wednesday.
The rescheduled matchday 6 fixture of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) took place at the Confluence Stadium in Lokoja.
Goals from Lucky Emariojake and Afeez Muhammed helped Heartland clinch an away victory, while Bashir Usman scored for Tornadoes.
“I’m delighted with this victory. It was a tough game. We did approach the match with a target to get a point,” Madu said on the NPFL website.
“We were lucky to get two goals in the first, at a time with much pressure on us. I was praying for a draw but thankfully we got the full points.
“I commend the boys for their cool-headedness especially in the closing stage and Japhet (Opubo) really did well to get us this points,” he continued.
“This is good for us and we would see how we can build on this to continue to perform well in our subsequent games.”
The defeat left Tornadoes placed19th on the league log and they will now face host Nasarawa United on Sunday.
Heartland climbed up to seventh spot and they will now face FC Ifeanyiubah on Sunday.
