By John Didi

A group known as Concerned Rivers People in Collaboration with Civil Liberty Organizations on Friday, 19th January 2018, marched round the streets of Port Harcourt to air their displeasure at the killings by operatives of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Rivers State.

The protesters who assembled at the Isaac Boro Park headed for the Nigerian Union of Journalists secretariat at Moscow Road where they’re expected to address the press.

It will be recalled that in December, Nigerians, using different social media platforms, exposed the atrocities committed by the men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad with the hash tag #EndSARS.

Several Nigerians across the country voiced out the bitter experiences they had endured after their encounter with the men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad .

The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, bowed to pressure and ordered the immediate reorganization of the squad and placed a commissioner of Police, under the Department of Operations at the force headquarters, as the overall head of the squad.

The Public relations officer, Rivers state police command, did not reply our request for comments on the matter.
