Rivers State Government to issue new Registration certificate to private Schools.

The Rivers State Government has reached a decision to come up with a new registration certificate for private schools, according to the commissioner of Education, Tamunosisi Gogo Jaja.

The new registration certificate is to guide against what he said, is forgery of the present certificate.

Tamunosisi Gogo Jaja said the new certificate registration for private schools will bear security features.

“The ministry is only taking the first quarter of this year to process the approval and renewals of their certificates. Maybe we would use this opportunity to inform you that before now, what was given to schools, private schools as approvals were papers.

“Now the Governor of Rivers state directed that some security measures must be taken, to check forgery and strain leakages because quacks are always issuing out letter headed papers as approval letters.

The commissioner for Education, also said that as part of the plans to ensure that owners of private schools in Rivers state operate according to standard, Directors in the ministry of Education and Permanent Secretary of the ministry of education will no longer be allowed to approve private schools, and such powers will only come from the office of the Governor.

“Even if you have an approval, now you have to revalidate it with some of this certificates that have some security measures.

“Now Like I said, initially even the Directors, permanent Secretarys were issuing approvals, now approvals are domiciled in the office of the Governor of Rivers State. So now we are checking most of these things.

Vegetable egg Sauce served with yam, or plantain.

It can be hard sometimes to decide on what to cook, especially if you do not follow a food timetable ( By the way, I think it is really hard to follow. It requires serious discipline ) So here’s something you can prepare in less than 35 to 40minutes. I tasted it for the first time, a month ago!!! Yes, I know… so its really nice and I would love to share.

What do you need( Ingredients )?

1. Fresh Eggs

2. Fresh Vegetables( you could use Pumpkin (Ugu) or Green( uhmm, I don’t know what it is called in plain English )

3. Tomatoes, fresh pepper, onion, crayfish( crayfish is highly optional)

4. Vegetable oil to fry

5. 1 Seasoning Beef cube, Salt to Taste and Pepper.

let’s start

First of all, wash all the ingredients properly, make sure you rinse very well, please do not wash the vegetable oil and salt…….. thank you)

Secondly Chop( to your desired shape, personally I prefer smaller cube-like size) the pepper, Onions, Tomatoes, Pumpkin “Ugu” separately……Set aside.

Heat the vegetable oil until hot. Add the Chopped onion and pepper, Stir-fry for 1 minute. Add the chopped tomatoes, Salt to taste, Crushed seasoning, curry powder, thyme. Leave to fry for 5 mins while stirring occasionally.

Break the eggs into the pot and stir to incorporate the mixture. Leave for 5 minutes while stirring occasionally.

Add the chopped pumpkin leaves and stir. Leave to simmer for 5 mins.

Turn off the cooker and serve with boiled Yam, Plantain, Rice, Irish or Sweet Potatoes

Nigeria to establish the Nigerian Marine Development Bank – Peterside

Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dakuku Peterside, has said that as part of the measures to enhance its revenue drive, NIMASA will focus its attention on the $8 billion (N2.88 trillion) maritime component of the Oil and Gas sector in 2018.

Dakuku stated this on Tuesday while unveiling the 2018/2019 maritime industry forecast , the first time in the history of the industry a forecast to reposition the sector was being showcased.

He disclosed that five bills amongst others, affecting the maritime industry will enter into force in 2018, one of which is a bill for the establishment of the Nigerian Marine Development Bank.

The other bills currently undergoing legislative processes at the National Assembly are: the Anti-Piracy Bill, Inland Fisheries Act (Amendment) Bill 2017, the Deep Offshore and Inland Basin Production Sharing Contract (Amendment) Bill 2016 and the Carbotage Act (Amendment) Bill 2017. He said the Nigerian maritime industry was projected to grow by 2.5 – 5 per cent within the period of 2018-2019, further adding that there will be a projected increase in demand for maritime services in Nigeria during the period.

APC-led federal government has no tangible project in Rivers State – Wike

Governor Nyesom Wike has lambasted the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government for what he has described as ‘neglect” of the state for three years since assuming office.

Wike also berated the state chapter of the APC for failing to attract any developmental projects to the state.

“The Federal Government has no tangible project in Rivers State after close to three years in government. These APC leaders from Rivers State have been unable to attract a single project,” he said on Saturday.

“If you know that you cannot deliver projects to the people of Rivers State, you better keep quiet and allow us to develop the state.”

The governor made the comments shortly after he flagged off the construction of the Umueze-Umuogba-Umuokpurukpu-Umueke- Umunju-Umuellechi-Eberi road in Omuma Local Government Area of the state.

Recalling his service as a Minister of State for Education, Wike said he was able to attract 22 key projects to the state and also grants for Ignatius Ajuru University of Education and Ken Saro Wiwa Polytechnic respectively.

While thanking the people of the state for their overwhelming support, Wike also reiterated his administration’s support in improving the lives of the people.

He explained that his administration has linked Omuma communities to the National Grid while the General Hospital, Eberi is nearing completion.

“There is no way that Omuma Local Government Area will not continue to benefit from key projects. The Lawmaker representing Omuma State Constituency, Rt Hon Kelechi Nwogu has performed creditably and we can see his constituency project.

“Those who represented Omuma Local Government Area in the past, what is their legacy. For this administration, we shall develop the area”, the governor said.

He stated that his administration has prudently managed resources and placed the development of the state ahead of other considerations.

John Diidi

Rivers United, on Sunday, suffered a set back in their quest to get the three-point lead at home, after playing out a 1-1 draw against the visiting FC Ifeanyi Ubah, in the NPFL match day 11 encounter.

Seka pascal got the first half proceedings on the way for the visitors.

In the 8th minute, FC Ifeanyi Ubah GK Bamba misread Ovoke’s corner, but Osita Chikere’s header was cleared by Wasiu.

13 minutes later, Emeka Ogbugh hit a free kick straight at Bamba from 30 yards.

In the 43rd minute, Pascal Seka’s long-range curler, was saved by Rivers United Goal Keeper Rotimi.

Osita Chikere got the second half underway.

5 minutes later, Chikere set up Oche salifu, but Bamba was quick off his line to save.

In the 59th minute, Sunday Rotimi was sent off, reducing the home side to 10 men and a penalty awarded to the visitors after he lunged into Seka Pascal, with Pascal sustaining an injury.

Robert Cole replaced Bernard Ovoke. His first task was to stop the penalty, but Onyekachi Chidume neatly converted it, sending him to the wrong direction.

Yaya Kone replaced the injured Seka Pascal four minutes later.

Festus Austine (RIV) got booked for a cynical foul on Daberechi Anyanwu on the 78th minute.

In a sudden change of Fortune, Sadiq Abdulrazak (FCIU) got sent off for a second bookable offence. Bringing both sides to 10-10.

Rivers United took advantage of the sending off of Sadiq, as Salefu Ochefu turned up with a stunning goal from 18 yards to equalize from an Osita Chikere assist.

Rivers State Government to prosecute Chidi Llyod for attempted murder.

Governor Wike says Dr Chidi Llyod will still face prosecution after the former lawmaker accused the Governor of a ploy to arm a private army using the Neighborhood watch bill.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has stated that Former Majority Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Mr Chidi Lloyd will still face prosecution for attempted murder.

Speaking during the flag off of the construction of Umueze-Umuogba-Umuokpurukpu-Umueke- Umunju-Umuellechi-Eberi road in Omuma LGA, Governor Wike said that Rivers State Government will prosecute Mr. Lloyd under a different Law.

Governor Wike’s response came after the former lawmaker accused the Governor of a ploy to arm a private army using the Neighborhood watch corps bill on View Point, Rythm 93.7 on Saturday, 3rd March 2018;

“Neighbourhood watch as proposed by the Rivers State government, I have no issues with it but the provisions therein… it won’t bring about peace but exacerbate it. People should study the provisions contained in the neighborhood watch bill. That was how Bakassi started. We cannot afford to make our kids glorified arm bandits.

” You cannot give me wine in a poisoned chalice… People calling in to call me a criminal and a murderer, I keep saying it that what happened in the house was cause and effect.

“I have long apologized to my brother and the Rivers State government has long withdrawn the case, why call me names? notwithstanding, I will still speak out” the lawmaker said.

However, the governor in his speech said: “Chidi Lloyd will be charged to court under a different law. He cannot escape justice”.

It will be recalled that the Former Majority Leader was dragged to court by the present Rivers State Government for attempting to murder a State Lawmaker, Mr. Michael Chinda, using the mace at the floor of the Rivers State House of Assembly during a rowdy session in 2014, a case which was later withdrawn by the state government.
