Andoni Schools Adopt Skill-Building Curriculum

Secondary school students in Andoni Local Government Area now learn vocational skills. A new curriculum focusing on self-reliance began this academic term. The program equips students with practical abilities. These skills include tailoring, carpentry, and basic electrical repairs. It also teaches entrepreneurship fundamentals. This initiative prepares students for life after graduation. It offers alternatives to traditional white-collar jobs.

The “Skills for Success” program aims to reduce youth unemployment. It provides students with marketable skills. “We want our students to be job creators, not just job seekers,” Mr. Kenneth Ifeanyi, a program coordinator, explained. He spoke at the launch event in Andoni. The initiative partners with local artisans and craftspeople. They provide mentorship and practical training. These experts guide students through hands-on projects.

Students show strong interest in the vocational courses. “I enjoy learning to fix electrical gadgets. This skill will help me in the future,” said Favour Uche, a secondary school student. The program promotes creativity and innovation. It also instills a sense of accomplishment. Students build confidence as they complete projects. They learn the value of hard work.

Parents welcome the practical approach to education. “Giving our children these skills helps them a lot. Not everyone will go to university,” Mrs. Ekaete Udoh, a parent, commented
