Scholarship Launched for Indigent Students in ONELGA

The Rivers State government has launched a new scholarship scheme specifically designed to support indigent and high-achieving students from Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area in pursuing tertiary education.

This initiative aims to remove financial barriers thatoften prevent bright young minds from accessing higher learning.The scholarship covers tuition fees, accommodation, and other educational expenses, offering a lifeline to students facing financialhardship.

The selection process emphasizes both academic merit anddemonstrated financial need, ensuring that support reaches those whoneed it most. “This is a game-changer for many families. My son cannow dream of university,” said Mrs. Faith Okoli, a parent.During the launch, Governor Fubara, represented by the Commissionerfor Education, Hon. Ada Pepple, stated, “Investing in our youth isinvesting in the future of Rivers State.

This scholarship is anopportunity for our talented students to reach their full potential,irrespective of their economic background.” Teachers welcomed thenews. “It’s a great motivator for students to strive for academicexcellence, knowing there’s a pathway for them,” commented Mr. JamesAdoki, a principal.Beneficiaries expressed their gratitude and determination. “I am sothankful for this opportunity. I will work hard to make my communityproud,” said beneficiary Okoro Kingsley.

The scheme also includesmentorship to guide students through their academic journey. Thisprogram is expected to foster a generation of skilled professionalswho will contribute to the development of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni and RiversState. “Finally, my dream of becoming an engineer is within reach,”shared Bright Egbe.
