The Police Service Commission (PSC) on Thursday convened a crucial stakeholders’ meeting with the Nigeria Police Force, Ministry of Police Affairs and the Federal Character Commission to perfect modalities for the planned recruitment of 50,000 officers into the Nigeria Police Force.
The closed-door session, held at the PSC corporate headquarters in Jabi, Abuja, was aimed at guaranteeing a seamless, transparent and merit-driven exercise that reflects Nigeria’s diversity and promotes national cohesion.
Representing the PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu (rtd), the Board Member and Chairman of the Standing Committee on Nigeria Police Force Matters, DIG (Dr) Taiwo Lakanu (rtd), fdc, restated the Commission’s resolve to conduct an open, inclusive and interference-free recruitment.
“The Commission is irrevocably committed to a process that is fair, equitable and technology-driven while strictly observing the principles of federal character and gender inclusivity,” DIG Lakanu declared.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Police Affairs, Dr. Anuma Ogbonnaya, who led his ministry’s delegation, pledged full cooperation and expressed confidence that the collaboration would yield a credible outcome.
