In a significant recognition of its commitment to local content development, Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) was named the Best Corporate Training Partner 2025 by the Oil and Gas Trainers Association of Nigeria (OGTAN).
The award, presented at the 4th edition of the OGTAN Human Capital Development (HCD) Awards in Lagos, highlights NLNG’s longstanding investment in workforce training and skills transfer.
The award ceremony served as a platform for NLNG to showcase its deliberate human resource strategy, which has yielded remarkable results. The company now boasts a 100 per cent Nigerian management team and a workforce that is over 95 per cent Nigerian. This achievement is a testament to its commitment to local capacity building since its inception.
NLNG’s focus on human capital is an integral part of its broader corporate strategy, particularly for the Train 7 project, a major expansion of its Bonny Island liquefied natural gas plant. This project aims to boost the country’s gas export capacity by about 35 per cent, from 22 million tonnes to around 30 million tonnes annually.

As part of its commitment to the project, NLNG revealed that more than 400 Nigerians are currently undergoing training. This includes over 140 individuals embedded in plant maintenance activities and over 200 community youths being prepared for future operations.
The training is part of a deliberate effort to empower Nigerians with industry-relevant skills, ensuring the company has a steady pipeline of local talent to manage its operations.
Beyond the Train 7 project, NLNG’s training and CSR programs continue to drive national development. The company stated that through strategic partnerships, it has empowered thousands of Nigerians with vocational training and formal education support.
For instance, over 600 Nigerians have received highly technical training in fields such as naval architecture and welding both locally and in South Korea. The company also provides scholarships to deserving students at various academic levels, aligning its efforts with Nigeria’s development and sustainability goals.
