Guinness World Records has officially recognised Nigerian chef Hilda Baci for cooking the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice, confirming her second entry into the record books after her 2023 cooking marathon triumph.
In a post shared on their official Instagram account, Guinness revealed that Hilda, in partnership with Gino Nigeria, prepared a staggering 8,780 kilograms of jollof rice, nearly double the minimum threshold of 4,700 kg required to qualify for the record.
The feat took place at Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos during the Gino World Jollof Festival, where Hilda and her team cooked for nine hours using a massive pot and industrial-scale ingredients. The dish included 4,000 kg of basmati rice, 164 kg of goat meat, 220 kg of Gino Asun & peppered chicken cubes, and 600 kg of her signature jollof pepper mix, all fueled by 1,200 kg of gas.

Guinness emphasised that the team followed all official guidelines, including the crucial requirement that none of the food be wasted. Over 16,600 plates were served to a crowd of more than 20,000 attendees, with additional portions donated to charity.
“It was nine hours of fire, blocks, and sweat,” Hilda said. “Seasoned with joy, love, and community.”
The recognition has reignited pride across Nigeria and the broader West African region, with many hailing Hilda’s achievement as a cultural victory in the ongoing “Jollof Wars.”
