Uriel Oputa: ‘Fine, Single Women in Their 30s and 40s Struggle to Find Decent Men’

Reality TV star and media personality Uriel Ngozi Oputa has expressed concern over the growing number of single women in Nigeria aged between their mid-30s and early 40s, describing them as “extremely pretty” yet struggling to find partners.

‎Speaking in a recent interview, Oputa lamented that many eligible women remain unmarried due to a scarcity of “decent men,” attributing the trend to a pervasive belief among men that there is always “something better” out there.

‎“You’ll see a woman in Nigeria now, she’s 35, some of them are even 40, 41. They’re still single—fine, fine girls, but they’re still single. Why? Ogini? It’s hard to find a decent man in Nigeria, and it boils down to what? We have a culture of ‘there is always something better.’ There’s nothing better,” she stated.

‎Oputa also referenced music executive Don Jazzy, citing his past comments about struggling to commit to one woman as an example of this mindset. “I love Don Jazzy… he said something about not being able to stay with one woman,” she added, suggesting that such attitudes contribute to the dating challenges faced by women.

‎Her remarks have sparked discussions on social media, with many Nigerians debating cultural expectations, modern relationships, and shifting marital trends in the country.

‎As the conversation continues, Oputa’s comments highlight broader societal concerns about commitment, gender dynamics, and the pressures faced by single women in Nigeria.
