FIFA Holds 2-day Program In Nigeria

Officials from FIFA, the global football governing body, have arrived in Nigeria to facilitate a two-day workshop for chairmen and chief operating officers of Nigeria’s football leagues and Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) clubs. The event is scheduled for June 3 and 4, 2025, at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja.

The workshop aims to transform the operational and strategic frameworks of Nigerian football by critically assessing current management models of clubs and leagues, introducing innovative governance practices to enhance transparency and efficiency, boosting commercial viability through sustainable financial and marketing strategies, and broadening administrators’ global perspectives to foster growth and long-term sustainability.

The initiative seeks to align Nigerian football with international best practices, equipping administrators with tools and insights to drive competitiveness and financial stability. A total of 40 participants are expected, including the chairman and CEO from each of the 20 NPFL clubs, as well as chairmen and chief executive officers of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Nigeria National League (NNL), Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL), and Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO).

The workshop, held over two days, will feature interactive sessions, presentations, and discussions led by FIFA officials, focusing on global trends in football management, revenue generation, and governance models.

It is expected to equip participants with modern management techniques, foster collaboration between NPFL clubs and national league bodies, lay the groundwork for structural reforms to enhance global competitiveness, and promote sustainable commercial strategies to attract investment and sponsorship.

This initiative depicts FIFA’s commitment to supporting football development in Nigeria and strengthening the administrative capacity of its football ecosystem.
