Officials from FIFA, the global football governing body, have arrived in Nigeria to facilitate a two-day workshop for chairmen and chief operating officers of Nigeria’s football leagues and Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) clubs. The workshop aims to transform the operational and strategic frameworks of Nigerian football by critically assessing current management models of clubs and leagues, introducing innovative governance practices to enhance transparency and efficiency, boosting commercial viability through sustainable financial and marketing strategies, and broadening administrators’ global perspectives to foster growth and long-term sustainability.
The initiative seeks to align Nigerian football with international best practices, equipping administrators with tools and insights to drive competitiveness and financial stability. A total of 40 participants are expected, including the chairman and CEO from each of the 20 NPFL clubs, as well as chairmen and chief executive officers of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Nigeria National League (NNL), Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL), and Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO).
