In an attempt to celebrate the actor, the officer fired his weapon into the air. However, he lost control of the firearm, which discharged multiple rounds, five of which struck Okocha.

One bullet pierced through his stomach, entering from one side and exiting the other. Another lodged in his leg. Tragically, a bystander, who was set to marry in three days, was also hit and later succumbed to his injuries.

Despite the severity of his injuries, Okocha was rushed to the hospital, where doctors performed multiple surgeries to remove the bullets and repair the damage.

Reflecting on the ordeal, he expressed profound gratitude for his survival, attributing it to divine intervention. He also noted that the experience revealed who his true friends were, as some individuals he considered close did not reach out during his recovery.

This life-altering event has left Okocha with visible scars, which he now embraces as symbols of resilience and survival. He emphasized the importance of appreciating life and recognizing the unpredictable nature of human existence.
