Port Harcourt LGA Boss Approves Bridge Construction

The Mayor of Port Harcourt City, Honourable Ezebunwo Ichemati, has approved the construction of a concrete bridge to link the people of Ibidiki Wakirike and Darick Polo in Toniprima Ama, Port Harcourt Township.

The approval was given when the Mayor whose attention was drawn to the collapsed wooden pedestrian bridge through several online posts appealing he came to their rescue.

The people also revealed that several residents and denizens pedestrians had fallen off the wooden bridge, urging the chairman to intervene before its final collapse cutting off the link between the Ibidiki Wakirike and Darick Polo people and the denizens to the area.

Arriving in the area to see first-hand the situation, the Mayor, yesterday, ordered for the immediate commencement of a concrete pedestrian bridge which will be lasting and enduring.

He said, “The bridge will have handrails on both sides to support the people from slipping and falling,” while adding that “the pedestrian concrete bridge will be fitted with streetlights to ensure visibility at night.”

The Mayor was accompanied during the visit by Honourable Mrs Wendy Tim-Kalio, the Deputy Mayor of the City; Mr Bob Abayomi, the secretary of council; and Honourable Raymond Wechie.
