Segun Arinze Opens Up on Quitting Music and Future Comeback

In a recent interview on the show Curiosity Made Me Ask, hosted by content creator Bae U Barbie, Nollywood actor Segun Arinze shed light on his decision to leave the music industry.

Arinze, who studied Theatre Arts at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife, explained that his transition to acting was a deliberate decision.

Contrary to popular belief, Arinze clarified that his departure from music was not due to failure but a personal choice to focus on his acting career.

“I didn’t fail as a musical artist. I left the music on my own volition. If I wanted to do music, I would have continued,” he said.

“I read theatre art at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife. I left school, I did well. I went into my music on my own volition. When I decided to concentrate on my acting career, I concentrated on my acting,” he explained.

The veteran actor revealed that he plans to return to the music industry in the future, though not for commercial reasons but purely for passion.

“I can always go back to music. I didn’t fail. I’ve two albums. I suspended it [my music career]. When I feel it’s time, I will go back. I still sing. The voice is still there,” he said.

Arinze emphasized that his comeback would be driven by his love for singing rather than financial gain. “I will be going back to music but I won’t be coming into it for commercial reasons. I will return to music just because I want to sing, not because I want to make money,” he added.
