Unknown gunmen have killed a man (name withheld) in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The man was said to have been abducted on Tuesday and hacked to death with machetes.
The kidnappers were also reported to have carried out dual kidnap operations same day in Ombo and JK2 communities in Ahoada West.
Narrating the incidents to our correspondent, the traditional ruler of JK 2 community, Chief Ekiavia Amedi said: “It is a confirmed incident which happened around 4pm on Tuesday. The gunmen entered Ombo Community in Ahoada West and kidnapped four women and one man.
“It was so unfortunate that around 9.30pm the same day, the captors freed the women and killed the man by macheting him to death.
“While coming out of the bush, the abductors met five women and five youths from my community and whisked them away.
“Up till now, we have not heard from the victims, nor any form of communication from the kidnappers.”
The traditional ruler also appealed for the unconditional release of the victims.
