Kengema Unity Forum has accused the Secretary to the Rivers State government, Tammy Danagogo of shortchanging Kalabari people.
The group was responding to a statement by the press officer of the SSG’s office which described the KUF leader, Sobomabo Jackrich as a miscreant, criminal and sea pirate.
But the group in a statement Soibibo Sokari said the SSG has been profiting from the collective wealth of the area.

Our attention has been drawn to recent publications by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Tammy Danagogo and his political goons against the Leader of Kengema Unity Forum- KUF, High Chief Amb Sobomabo Jackrich, over his criticism of the State government in the award of a section of the Trans- Kalabari road project.
No doubt, the totality of those unfortunate publications could best be described as a calculated cheap witch hunt aimed at satisfying the lust of their Lord, governor Nyesom Wike. We make bold to say this because rather than addressing any of the very pertinent issues raised by High Chief Amb. Sobomabo Jackrich contained in his press release; the man who claimed to be well-schooled resorted to logic of abuses.
In one of such social media publications by one Juliana Masi, the press secretary to the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo in what they called a response to the statement made by the Leader of Kengema Unity Forum which was entitled “HALT THE PERPETRATION OF INJUSTICE AGAINST KALABARI PEOPLE – KUF TO RIVERS STATE GOVERNMENT”, displayed a rather irrational outburst typical of a disgruntled politician seeking to cheaply buy the heart of the governor in his bid to become the next governor of Rivers State.
However, While Dr. Tammy Danagogo and his co-travellers chose to dwell on frivolous name-calling and vulgar abuses to express their paranoia. We have decided to let facts guide us as we unravel their nature and intentions.
Who is Dr. Tammy Danagogo to Kalabari people?
Here is a one-time Local government chairman that made no remarkable positive economic or infrastructural impact in Akuku Toru, best described as a synonym of agony and deprivation to the Kalabari people and their interests.
Dr Tammy Danagogo as the commissioner for Urban development under former governor Amaechi sold Abonnema Wharf waterfront, owned and predominantly occupied by Kalabari people to Kild Concession Company Limited for the construction of a toll road. To cap it all, Dr Tammy Danagogo executed a rather brutal and heartless forceful eviction of the settlers of the waterfront which according to the UN-HABITAT report displaced 10,000 – 20,000 settlers without proper enumeration and compensations. Below are pictures of aged victims of the area who were forcibly removed from their properties without compensations, obtained from Amnesty International.
The negative effects of the forceful eviction and demolition of Abonnema Wharf didn’t just lead to the loss of lives properties. It also deprived the people of Kalabari of the usual opportunity of producing councillors in the Port Harcourt City Council legislative assembly and even deputy Mayor of Port Harcourt City Council at some point.
It’s rather shameful and unfortunate, that a man who considers himself as an elite in Kalabari, has no footprint of development in Kalabari Kingdom from all the periods he has served in government. Instead, he has used his office to intimidate and trade-off opportunities rightfully belonging to the Kalabari people. If only Kalabari people knew how much this man makes from Cowthorne channel on daily basis, as the head of the cartel feasting on the general wealth of the Kalabari people, they would stone him to death.
Let’s go further to unmask the nature of Tammy Danagogo who dares to call High Chief Amb Sobomabo Jackrich derogative nomenclatures to satisfy his boss, the governor. He is the same man who has been the grand sponsor of politically motivated crisis and unrest in Akuku Toru LGA, launching and inciting brutal attacks against his political opponents. This is a fact corroborated by Mrs Ibim Semenitari, the commissioner for Information in the then Rotimi Amaechi government when She raised an alarm in April 2015 over the harassment of Voters on March 28th, 2015 Presidential elections at about 9:00 am; going door to door brutalizing opponents by armed soldiers led by Dr Tammy Danagogo.
Ibim Semenitari further revealed Dr Tammy Danagogo’s activities in arming youths in Akulga to disrupt the April governorship election in 2015. This ugly incident which played out in 2015 was reenacted by the same man in Abonnema when his armed mercenaries unleashed chaos leading to the killing of a military man which sparked off the widespread killings that marred the 2019 Presidential election. For a Man like Dr Tammy Danagogo patriotism is taboo as long as his personal interest comes in line. He is willing to trade anything to achieve it.
As Minister for Sports, Dr Tammy Danagogo cannot boast of any inroads in the sports industry. Rather, he was reported to have defrauded the Founder of Globacom, Chief. Mike Adenuga to the tune of 39.8 Million naira which Mike Adenuga donated to the Super Eagles for the Brazil world cup.
When Dr Tammy Danagogo talks about a lack of understanding of bureaucratic processes, we are made to ponder what he thinks the phrase means.
Is it forcibly evicting legal occupants of a place in wanton disregard and violation of the rule of Law, Statutory Provisions on Development plan in Rivers State? Judicial processes, Rights of Tenant and Constitutional right to a decent shelter which he deprived the Abonnema Wharf settlers according to Amnesty International’s report? Or does he mean the flagrant disregard to the Rivers State Public Procurement Law and other statutory provisions on how contracts should be awarded?
It is obvious that Dr Tammy Danagogo’s definition of the Bureaucratic Process is a flawed one driven by all ill intentions to defraud.
Of course, our respected leader, High Chief Amb Sobomabo Jackrich is not known for supporting such deceptive and deluded reasoning.
Dr. Tammy Danagogo and his goons in their publications described High Chief Amb Sobomabo Jackrich with different despicable innuendos in an attempt to demean his character. This is the same Amb Sobomabo Jackrich, Dr. Tammy Danagogo visited twice to seek support for Wike in 2015. The same individual Dr Tammy Danagogo celebrated for Championing the Kalabari political course.
Today, Dr Tammy Danagogo and his political knuckleheads are on a parade of shame and disdain against the same individual whom they had so previously eulogized because his position negates their selfish agenda. Unknown to them, the more they use state resources and apparatus in an attempt to gag High Chief Amb. Sobomabo Jackrich, by using different fronts to cook up and peddle unfounded and unsubstantiated lies against him, the more he’s been loved, followed and supported by the generality of the downtrodden Rivers populace who have reposed so much confidence in him because of his unique personality and his sustained role in social transformation and human capacity development.
Do Tammy Danagogo and his minions have any positive response to the issues pointed out by High Chief Amb. Sobomabo Jackrich’s statement, devoid of any derogations? We curiously await their response.
