As the cross examination of Prosecution witnesses continues in at a Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt in the case involving four dismissed Police Officers in the killing of an Auto-mechanic, Chima Ikwunado and torture of four others, one of the victims, Ifeanyi Onyekwere have insisted late Chima Ikwunado died from police torture and brutality.
Ifeanyi Onyekwere, while being crossed examined at the murder trial of Chima Ikwunado, told the court that one of the suspects, the female officer, dragged Chima’s private part while torturing him, and threatened that nothing will happen.
He further testified that while the four of them were being tortured, they lodged complaints to the police cell guards on the pains they were receiving from the police, but their complaints were met with deaf ears.
He told the court that the injury in his hands is as a result of police torture and not high sugar as alleged by the police.
He testified that the police officers did not include all the statement he made before them, as he could no longer write, due to the damage on his fingers caused by excessive torture.
He insisted that late Chima Ikwunado was a mechanic and not a generator repairer as claimed by the officers.
Our correspondent reports that the Presiding Judge, Justice Florence Fiberesima adjourned the case to 11th, 17th, and 26th of February for continuation of trial.
