Samuel Nwanosike, the Ikwerre Local Government Chairman has been accused of demolishing a 3-classroom building located at the St Martin’s State Primary school in Omagwa.
The building which was still under construction before it was demolished is said to have been sponsored by the House of Representatives member representing Ikwerre/Emohua Federal Constituency, Boniface Sunday Emerengwa.
Supporters of Emerengwa accused the LGA chairman of demolishing the building over a protracted political battle between the chairman the Rep Member.
In August, a meeting of the stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the LGA was disrupted when thugs attacked the home of Celestine Omehia, a former governor of the state.
Emerengwa was also physically assaulted by the thugs who disrupted the meeting.
Reason for the attack is not unconnected with the upcoming primaries of the party for next year’s local government elections.
Eyewitness to the attack who craved anonymity said the meeting was progressing well until the thugs invaded the compound chanting cult slogans.
According to him “The meeting was progressing fine when the thugs invaded the compound chanting cult slogans.
“They physically assaulted former governor Omehia while a rep member who was trying to stop them was also slapped. We heard that they were sent by another party wig in the LGA to disrupt the meeting which was billed to discuss important matters including the upcoming local council primaries”, he said.
But the Omagwa Community, on Monday, absolved Nwanosike of complicity in the demolition of the school building.
The community which spoke through her Royal Highness, Eze Achinike Amadi, CDC Chairman, Mr Stephen Chukwu, CSO, Mr Samuel Oboni, said Nwanosike was not responsible for the demolition, adding that investigation is ongoing to unravel the culprits.
