The people of Rumuagholu Community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, has refuted the claims made by one Fabulous Amaewhule of Nigerian Army 6 Division Invading his property and forcefully taking over.
In a statement signed by the community Spokes Person Ahams chijioke, the community stated that all the claims by Fabulous Amaewhule therein are false and untrue, as it is geared to mislead the general public.
Amaewhule had in a series of petitions alleged that soldiers invaded his property and caused destruction worth 500 million. He added that soldiers forcefully occupied the property against valid court order.
But the community in a statement made available to theportcitynews.com alleged that Amaewhule engaged in land grabbing.
The statement reads as follows:
“The people of Rumuagholu are the bonafide owners of the land situated at Ohia Onuhwo, Mini Mba, Rumuagholu Town, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, following the fact we have supreme court judgment in our favour on the same issue. We have been in peaceful possession of the said land since 1961 till this year 2020, when one Mr. Fabulous Amaehule and his cohorts started encroaching on our land, selling the said land to different individuals, claiming it is their family land.
“When one of our tenants reported this trespass to us, we called Fabulous and his cohorts to order, but they refused and failed to stay clear, instead they mobilised some hoodlums and cult members to the land, the very part we sold to a company for estate, to destroy the company’s equipment worth over Millions of Naira and also destroyed properties of both our tenants and indigenes. At this point, the violence became too much as men of the Inspector General of Police Monitoring Unit, under the watch of CSP Alex Udoeze were solidly behind their activities, we were handicap because Fabulous Amaewhule on several occasions threatened that heads will roll if we go close to the land in question, of which I and some elders of Rumuagholu have been arrested and detained severally.
“It took the intervention of officers of the military to calm the situation as the hoodlums were heavily armed, shooting at anyone on sight including the company owner and staffs. Some of the hoodlums arrested at the said land confessed that it was Fabulous Amaewhule that sent them, on an instruction to destroy and kill anybody that tries to stop them.
The statement however described the petition written by Fabulous Amaewhule against the GOC commanding the 6 Division as frivolous and baseless.
“Fabulous Amaewhule wrote a frivolous petition dated 22nd October, 2020 to the General Officer Commanding 6 Division against Colonel Timothy Opurum and Captain Edet, after being invited by the Military to come and defend his claims, which he failed to honour the invitation, but went ahead to publish lies to the general public.
“We are fully in support of the presence of the Military in our community as it has brought law and order, because Fabulous Amaewhule is known for notorious land grabbing act, they did same in Rumuosunwo Community Eneka, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, where lots of lives, properties were lost, many sustained grievous injury as a result of their criminal tendencies.
“Moreover, the land in question is situated at Ohia Onuhwo, Mini Mba, Rumuagholu Town, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, not anywhere close to Mbodo village in Aluu Community in Ikwerre Local Government as claimed by Fabulous Amaewhule.
“It is clear that by the publication Fabulous Amaewhule and his cohorts do not know their family land as Army is in Rumuagholu community with the approval and support of the people of Rumuagholu to prevent chaos and not Mbodo village in Aluu Community in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The statement also debunk further claims made by fabulous Amaewhule of military brutality, harassment and intimidation carried out on him
“We wish to categorically state that Army did not brutalize anybody in Rumuagholu not even the said Fabulous Amaewhule, as we were on ground that day, and saw what transpired, how the hoodlums and cultist contracted by Fabulous Amaewhule and his cohorts were vandalizing equipments and properties on the land with the protection from Officers of IGP Monitoring Unit Aluu. We further state the picture published is a makeup and well planned by Fabulous Amaewhule and his cohort to misinform the general public a plot to remove the military from the community, so they can carry out their evil plans just like they did in Rumuosunwo Community, Eneka in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
“Moreover, the Army is in Rumuagholu community to ensure that no one breaks law and order and that the community remains in a peaceful state. If Fabulous Amaewhule claims his fundamental right has been infringed, he knows the proper thing to do and not to make this false publication that is mainly geared at tarnishing the reputation of the people of Rumuagholu and the Nigerian Army in general”
