Thousands of Rivers State indigenes gathered at the state secretariat complex to submit applications for the 5000 job openings into the state civil service.
Governor Nyesom Wike had announced the approval of the state executive council for the employment of 5000 persons into the state civil service.
The State Commissioner for Employment Generation and Empowerment, Mr Sylvanus Nwankwo said the youths must not be more than 35 years.
He said there are existing vacancies in the civil service needing Engineers, Lawyers, Medical Doctors, Technicians and other fields of a profession that these youths will fill.
Some of the applicants who spoke to theportcitynews expressed optimism that the recruitment will be done in a transparent manner to give the most qualified candidates opportunities of being recruited.
A staff of the civil service commission who spoke to theportcitynews on the condition of anonymity said more than 3000 thousand applications have been received by the commission.
She said that processing the applications will take months before the prospectus candidates will be moved to another stage of the recruitment.
