Two male students of the Ignatius Ajuru University have been arrested for allegedly gang-raping a female student.
The female student was said to have been raped this week when three male students stormed one of the female hostels in the campus.
The Centre For Basic Rights Protection And Accountability campaign which condemned the alleged gang rape called on the Police to ensure a thorough investigation into the incident and anybody found culpable should be made to face the law.
“Centre For Basic Rights And Accountability Campaign as an organization has gotten in touch with the Vice-Chancellor of the University Professor Ozo-Mekuri Ndimele and the President of Student Union Government, Comrade Destiny Omunakwe to stress the need for Justice in the matter.
“We commend the Vice-Chancellor of the University and the President of Students Union Government (SUG) for ensuring the arrest of two suspects and handing them over to the Police.
“We urge students of the institution to focus on studies and shun acts inimical to school and the society at large” the organization said.
