Cultists raid Palace of Traditional Ruler in Elele

Police in Rivers State have apprehended three suspected cultist for masterminding a dastardly attack on the palace of the paramount ruler of Elele community, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Theportcitynews gathered that the cultists invaded the Palace of the paramount ruler, King J. O Amadi, the Nyeweli of Elele at the early hours of Sunday, destroying properties worth hundreds of millions.

The cultists reportedly burnt six cars packed at the palace and one other belonging to Mr Chikere Godspower, the Community Development Committee Chairman.

Amadi Nnamdi, the first son of the paramount ruler told newsmen that the attack is not unconnected with the introduction of Elele Security Peace Advisory Committee ESPAC in the Area.

He said that the vigilante group was set up to curb the high rising insecurity in the community, adding that some persons didn’t like the idea very much.

Godspower Chikere, the CDC chairman of the community pleaded with cultists in the area to embrace peace so as to attract investors and investments in the area.

Nnamdi Omoni, the public relations officer of the Rivers State Police Command, while confirming the arrest of the cultists, said that investigation has commenced in the matter.

Omoni added that those found culpable would be dealt with according to the law.
