PH Polytechnic amendment law scales first reading

A bill to amend the name of Port-Harcourt Polytechnic has scaled through the first reading on the floor of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

This follows a letter from the Rivers state Governor, Nyesom Wike to the state assembly for the amendment of the Port-Harcourt Polytechnic law.

The bill seeks to change the name from Port-Harcourt Polytechnic to Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic.

The majority leader of the house, Martin Amehule who presented the executive bill said if passed into law, will be sited as the Port Harcourt Polytechnic amendment number one law 2019.

The Speaker of the house, Ikunyi Owaji Ibani while reading the letter from the Governor said the bill also seeks the inclusion of 65 years retirement age for teaching and non-teaching staff.
