Students in Ahoada West Local Government have decried lack of scholarship opportunities for students in higher learning in the area.
The President of National Union of Ahoada West Students, ILOMA PRECIOUS, said this ahead of their annual congress at the council hall of Ahoada West Local Government Area in Akinima.
He said that students from Ahoada West are suffering despite the number of multinationals operating in their area.
ILOMA PRECIOUS said they will use the congress to discuss issues affecting students across the congress.
He said that the economic situation in the country is affecting the students negatively in the various institutions of learning.
He lamented that most students barely eat three square meals per day.
ILOMA PRECIOUS also said they will form an electoral committee during the congress today to make way for new executives for the students union.
He added that the congress will take a census of students from Ahoada West noting that such a move will enable the student body to plan for the welfare of students from the area.
The Secretary of National Union of Ahoada West Students Sylvester Amos while speaking to newsmen ahead of the congress advised students from the area to shun cultism.
He said that many students have lost their lives due to their involvement in cultism and other forms of social vices.
Sylvester Amos, however, advised the students to focus on their studies and prepare themselves for a bright future.
He added that many students who were involved in cultism are regretting their actions.
