Rivers task force denies collecting bribe

The Rivers State Taskforce on Street Trading, illegal Markets and Motor Parks has denied knowledge of its personnel collecting bribe from drivers and illegal traders in Port Harcourt.

Bright Amaewhule, the Chairman of the Committee, made this denial while speaking during a telephone interview with Wave FM, Port Harcourt on Friday.

Amaewhule said no member of the group is permitted to be paid of collect money from anyone, adding that they haven’t received any report to the contrary.

“Our men have always adhered to our directives and I am committed to follow the strict instructions of the governor not to collect any money in form of bribe from anybody because that’s outside our jurisdiction” he said.

He noted that no amount of Conspiracy will make the group to bow to pressure of unwarranted opposition to its activities and advised people with genuine reports to file their reports to him directly as he is available to attend to them.
