Soldier killed in Abonnema was set to wed in April

As the world continues to reel from the shock associated with the killings by the Nigerian Army in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers, the identity of the only army casualty has been made public.

At least 20 persons including the soldier and a female ad-hoc staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, were killed in the orgy of violence in the town on Saturday during the Presidential and National Assembly elections.

The female ad-hoc staff, Mrs Abisaki Amachree was a mother of two and the news of her death has been generating widespread sympathies on social media by friends and relatives.

Theportcitynews gathered that the name of the fallen soldier is Lt kurmi and he was set to marry in April 2019.

Although the army said it had withdrawn troops from the area, investigation by theportcitynews revealed that the military launched an onslaught in the area on Sunday searching for alleged perpetrators of violence.
