Video: Widespread anger as INEC refuses to issue PVCs to voters in Rivers State

There was palpable anger by residents of Port Harcourt who thronged to the Mile 3 office of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to obtain their permanent voter’s card.

Staff of the commission refused to issue cards to registered voters upon the declaration by the commission that the date for collection of PVCs by registered voters will elapse today. However, the commission extended the deadline to Monday.

INEC in Rivers State earlier announced that over 400,000 cards have not been collected in the state.

But residents blamed the staff of the commission for their failure to take possession of their cards which will enable them to vote, saying that staff of the commission demand bribes from them before they could be issued with their cards.
