There was pandemonium on Thursday in Asarama, Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State during a political rally organized by the Chibuike Amaechi’s faction of the All Progressives Congress.
TPCN gathered that the rally which had begun quite peacefully with the state chairman, Ojukaye Flag-Amachree in attendance, became a scene of chaos when unidentified gunmen stormed the venue and shot sporadically.
TPCN gathered that the state chairman who had gone to Asarama together with members of the Free Rivers Initiative to receive decamped members into the party, fled the ground of the political rally before receiving the decamped members as the gunmen invaded the area with sophisticated weapons.
Although no casualties were recorded, attempts to get the state publicity secretary of the party, Chris Finebone, to comment on the matter were not successful
