Action Democratic Party, ADP has commissioned its Rivers State Secretariat in Port Harcourt.
The event which took place on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, was attended by party faithfuls and select national executives.
The special guest of honour and a former Senator representing Edo-West Senatorial district during the fourth assembly, Rowland Owie, decried the rate of insecurity in the country.
According to him, it has become dangerous for people to move freely in the country due to kidnapping, armed robbery and ethnic and religiously motivated killings.
Senator Owie bemoaned the greed in government. He said that the present Nigerian government has no compassion on the Nigerian people, saying that people die today more than people are born.
He said: “Buhari is there, he has eyes, he does not see”
He added that the disobeying of court order by the APC Rivers State, shows that there is anarchy in the system.
Senator Owie also called for an end to the political crises, saying that enough is enough with the beaming crises in Rivers State, especially the incessant acts of violence bedevilling the state.
Senator Owie maintained that ADP will liberate Nigerians. He urged Rivers State electorates to wake up and shun money for votes. While expressing confidence in ADP, Senator Owie said that APC will not come back to power come 2019 , adding that a 200 Buhari will not win election.
In his remarks, the Rivers State Chairman of the party, Prince Victor Fingesi, opined that ADP has come to eradicate the hunger, starvation and death ravaging Rivers State.
Prince Fingesi also regretted the state of insecurity, fear, fights, recriminations and mayhem unleashed in the state during the April 2018 PDP primaries which was followed by that of the APC congresses.
He maintained that the drop in economic activities due to the fact that successive governments have not been able to chatter a true entrepreneurial path for the youths in Rivers State has led to the mounting unemployment in the state, of which he said has forced the youths into crime.
In addition, he said that necessary social infrastructures are lacking in health, education and that even when they exist, there has been no content to back them up.
In conclusion, he stated that having looked carefully at the many ills bedevilling the state and the country, ADP as a political party, presents a credible alternative that will bring about the needed changes as the party understands the plights of the common man.
He therefore appealed to residents of the state to join the party in its quest to usher in a new beginning, saying that the party as presently constituted is an inclusive one where everyone with good conscience is welcome.
Other speakers include the youth leader, Zonal women leader and other state executives.
