The last may not have been heard of the rumors of defection making rounds about one of the pillar supporters of the Senator Magnus Ngei Abe’s faction of the Rivers State APC and the member representing Eleme/Tai Federal constituency, Hon. Barry Mpigi.
A source told TPCN that plans have been cemented for the House of Reps member to decamp to the Peoples Democratic Party in weeks to come.
The source who is privy to the matter said that Hon. Mpigi has also tipped his media boys in KAIROS Media Group to exit the group as he is on his way to PDP.
This development followed the recent formal defection of the All Progressives Congress (APC) member of the House of Assembly from Tai and a loyalist of Mpigi, Matthew Dike, who defected to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) weeks ago.
Rivers State Governor, it was gathered, is doing everything to deplete the ranks of the ruling APC in the state, a development that have brought mistrust in the APC.
According to several sources, at the just concluded National Working Committee (NWC) meeting of the APC, it was gathered that Hon. Mpigi was spotted at the venue but the Rivers State Chairman of the APC, Davis Ikeanya, rushed to his seat shortly before the arrival of President Mahammadu Buhari and held him by the hands as one leading him out of the venue.
It was then Hon. Mpigi tried to resist and the chairman began shouting and asked if he was for the APC or the PDP.
He (Hon. Mpigi) was however given a one month ultimatum to either reinstate his membership with the APC or do that which he has in mind.
