Rivers State Holds 2024 Post-Flood Relief Program in Ahoada

The Rivers State Flood Prevention and Management Committee, led by Deputy Governor Prof. Ngozi Nma Odu, spearheaded the 2024 Post-Flood Relief Program at the Ahoada East Local Government Council Secretariat Complex on January 29, 2025.

During the event, Prof. Odu was warmly received by Ahoada women leaders, highlighting the community’s engagement in ongoing flood recovery efforts.

She also held discussions with key government officials, including the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Adaeze Chidinma Oreh; the Head of Service, Dr. George Nwaeke; and the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon. Joe Johnson, on strategies to enhance flood prevention and response.

As part of the relief efforts, Prof. Odu presented dummy cheques to flood victims in the Orashi region, reinforcing the government’s commitment to rebuilding affected communities. Additionally, she handed over large quantities of medical kits to the leadership of Ahoada East, Ahoada West, Abua/Odual, and Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Areas to support healthcare services in flood-affected regions.

The initiative underscores the state government’s proactive approach to mitigating the impact of flooding and ensuring sustainable recovery for vulnerable communities.
